It’s time for another Chatty Meeples. This week we answer the question what game do you want on hand if you’re ever trapped on a desert island. For the purposes of this question we didn’t put any limits on it. Want a game that takes fifty people, no problem. Want a game that requires special facilities? A crate washed up on shore. Need an App? Hey there’s a working phone with a massive battery. Need a PC? We’ll have the Professor hook one up to a bike and get the first mate to pedal like mad while you play. We were not putting any limits on this one.
As always, I haven’t changed these answers except for a little bit of Grammar, I capitalized a couple of letters and added a comma here and there.
I think it’s Gloomhaven. Last year for my birthday I had my group over and we played Gloomhaven all day. It was a lot of fun. With the different mission types we got to see and do different things every game. It will take a long time to get through the campaign. There are tons of surprises with the different envelopes that you open. Then once we get through everything you can play random dungeons. Even if I don’t have the expansion with the new character and missions I should have tons of content to get through. Yep, Gloomhaven is my Desert island game of choice.
My deserted island game would be potion explosion with expansions.
If I were stuck on a desert island I would want something that could take a lot of time, high replayability, and engaging/absorbing, and solo play if I were alone. Arkham Horror with all of it expansions first comes to mind. It has all of that in spades as well as tons of scenarios, fan-made and by Fantasy Flight. With all that cardboard, too, could get a fire going after punching it all out.
If I was stranded on a desert island I would bring Forbidden Island. It would always remind me that it could be so much worse. I could be on a sinking island. That might make my day brighter.
I would take the complete Aeon’s End canon. Loads of replayability and variety in those boxes. I never get tired of Aeon’s End.
That’s it for us. What are some of your Desert Island games? Let us know in the comments. Also if you have an idea for future Chatty Meeples let us know below.
